To celebrate the highly anticipated series premiere of EMPIRE, FOX and fictional music conglomerate Empire Entertainment are taking over New York City, bringing a fan experience fit for a record mogul. On Monday, Jan. 5, fans will have the opportunity to join one of two exclusive double-decker bus tours and watch a surprise performance. Then, Power 105 listeners will enjoy a Timbaland tribute that will conclude with a spectacular light show on the Empire State Building, synchronized to “The Moment,” an original song to be featured in the series.
On Monday, Jan. 5, The Empire Entertainment Award Tour will be open to the public in New York City. Fans lucky enough to board one of two double-decker, EMPIRE-branded buses will be taken on an historic hour-long tour of New York City, stopping at key locations significant in the history of hip-hop, including Chung King Studios, Roseland Ballroom and The Cutting Room. While on the tour, fans will get a sneak peek at some music from EMPIRE and will be treated to an intimate surprise performance from a notable hip-hop artist, which they can share with friends on social media using #empire.
Later that evening, EMPIRE will light up the night, and New Yorkers will be treated to a spectacular lightshow on the Empire State Building’s iconic LED light tower, synchronized to the premiere broadcast of the single “The Moment” on Power 105.1 at 8:20 PM ET. Prior to that broadcast, on-air hosts Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Lee and DJ Envy from the nationally syndicated hit radio show, “The Breakfast Club,” will sit down with EMPIRE’s prolific music producer, Timbaland, for an exclusive 30-minute tribute program, “Timabaland’s Music Empire,” which will air on 44 iHeartMedia stations, including Power 105.1. The program will feature a custom mix of Timbaland’s greatest hits, curated by Timbaland himself and mixed by the Breakfast Club’s DJ Envy. “Timbaland’s Music Empire” will air from 8:00-8:30 PM.
