One of the most enigmatic actresses of her generation, Debra Winger is a three-time Academy Award Nominee for Actress in a Leading Role.

  

Winger’s breakout performance opposite John Travolta in Urban Cowboy catapulted her to stardom and earned her numerous Best Supporting Actress Nominations (Golden Globes, National Society of Film Critics, New York Film Critics) as well as a nom as The Most Promising Newcomer at the BAFTAS.    

 

Winger starred in An Officer and a Gentleman opposite Richard Gere earning her first Oscar Nomination and another Golden Globe Nomination for Best Actress. She next starred in James L. Brooks’ Terms of Endearment (her second Oscar Nomination, National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actress; Golden Globe and New York Film Critics Circle Nominee for Best Actress). She earned her third Oscar Nomination for Richard Attenborough’s Shadowlands (BAFTA) Nominee, and Los Angeles Film Critics Nomination).

Winger received praise for Jonathan Demme’s Rachel Getting Married, earning an Independent Spirit Award Nomination for Best Supporting Female as Anne Hathaway’s estranged mother. Additional independent films include Lola Versus with Greta Gerwig, A24’s The Lovers and Miranda July’s Kajillionaire (Sundance Premiere). 

  

Winger’s producing credits include the documentary Gasland, which was nominated for an Academy Award and helped ban hydro-fracking in the state of New York, and the feature film BIG Bad Love in which she also starred for writer and director Arliss Howard.

  

Television credits include FOX’s Accused, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Apple+ series Mr. Corman, Steve Conrad’s PATRIOT and Ultra City Smiths, Netflix’s The Ranch, HBO's In Treatment, HBO’s Sometimes In April, and DAWN ANNA, which earned Winger a Emmy Award Nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in the title role, portraying a mother of a Columbine shooting victim.

  

Winger made her professional stage debut in the American Repertory Theater’s production of Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive. She returned to A.R.T. to play the female lead in Anton Chekhov’s Ivanov. Winger made her Broadway debut in David Mamet's The Anarchist.

  

Winger was the subject of a much-lauded documentary Searching for Debra Winger conceived and directed by Rosanna Arquette.

  

She wrote a collection of essays entitled "Undiscovered" published by Simon & Schuster.
