Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) announces the addition of DIRECTV to the roster of pay-TV providers supported by FOX NOW, the network’s TV Everywhere service. Beginning today, DIRECTV’s more than 20 million U.S. customers can sign in to FOX NOW with their subscriber credentials to watch full episodes of FOX series – including hit shows GOTHAM, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, FAMILY GUY, SLEEPY HOLLOW, MASTERCHEF JUNIOR and THE SIMPSONS – the very next morning after they air.
With this addition, FOX NOW offers a true TV Everywhere experience to the overwhelming majority of viewers in the U.S. who subscribe to a cable, satellite or telco video provider. In addition to Fox on Demand, full episodes of FOX series are now available to more than 80% of U.S. pay-TV customers via FOX NOW on the latest iOS, Android and Windows mobile devices. On FOX.com and FOX NOW for connected TV viewing platforms such as Apple TV and Roku, virtually all U.S. pay-TV subscribers can access full episodes. In addition, for the majority of FOX shows, FOX NOW offers the entire current season, allowing pay TV customers to catch up on many of this season’s FOX favorites from the very beginning.
“Today, we’re one big step closer to making full episodes of FOX shows available to every single pay-TV customer in America, on nearly every major mobile and connected device,” said David Wertheimer, President, Digital, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Together with forward-thinking partners like DIRECTV, we are turning TV Everywhere from a catch phrase into a reality.”
Launched in 2012, FOX NOW allows fans to watch full episodes and connect to their favorite FOX shows whenever and wherever they want. To date, FOX NOW has generated nearly 20 million downloads – up from five million a year ago – and is now accessible across hundreds of digital devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android handsets and tablets, Kindle Fire, Windows 8.1 tablets and Windows Phones, Apple TV, Roku, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray Players.
In addition to DIRECTV, major video providers supporting authentication on FOX NOW or FOX.com include AT&T U-verse, Bright House Networks, Cablevision, Charter, Comcast XFINITY, Cox, Dish, Mediacom, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FiOS.
