Seth MacFarlane’s talents encompass every aspect of the entertainment industry. He has created some of the most popular content on television and film today, while also expanding his career in the worlds of music and philanthropy. 

At 24, MacFarlane became the youngest showrunner in television history, when his animated series, FAMILY GUY, aired on FOX. Heading into its 21st season, the show has garnered MacFarlane numerous nominations and five Emmy Awards, four of which are in the Outstanding Voice-Over Performance category, making him a tied record-holder for the most voice-over Emmy wins. MacFarlane also serves as co-creator, executive producer and voice actor on “American Dad!,” currently airing its 15th season.

Dedicated to producing content that shapes social conversation across a multitude of genres, MacFarlane’s production company, Fuzzy Door, has created an enviable portfolio of award-winning properties that connect global audiences through the lens of individual experiences. Under Fuzzy Door, MacFarlane created, executive-produces and stars in the live-action, one-hour space adventure series, “The Orville.” The series premiered to more than 14 million viewers across all platforms, and both its second and third seasons, “The Orville: New Horizons,” holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In 2020, MacFarlane executive-produced Nat Geo and FOX’s “Cosmos: Possible Worlds,” following Fuzzy Door and FOX’s “Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey,” which MacFarlane also executive-produced. “Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey” was seen by more than 135 million people worldwide and received 13 Emmy nominations.

In 2020, MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door signed an impressive multi-year television deal with Universal Studio Group. Under the pact, MacFarlane is currently in pre-production on the anticipated “Ted” TV series, in which he will reprise the voice of the iconic and loveable foul-mouthed teddy bear “Ted,” and will direct, write, co-showrun and executive-produce all episodes. MacFarlane also is executive-producing the disaster science series “The End Is Nye,” hosted by Emmy Award winner and renowned science educator Bill Nye, premiering August 25. Additionally, he is writing and executive-producing “The Winds of War,” a limited series based on Pulitzer Prize winner Herman Wouk’s acclaimed American war novels; an “Untitled Little Rock Nine” series; as well as the TV adaptations of Elan Mastai’s celebrated novel, “All Our Wrong Todays,” and the dystopian sci-fi short film “Skywatch.” MacFarlane also is executive-producing a new animated take on Norman Lear’s classic sitcom, “Good Times,” with all 10 episodes airing in 2023.

MacFarlane made his feature film directorial debut in 2012 with the then-highest-grossing original R-rated comedy film of all time, “Ted.” In addition to voicing the lovable foul-mouthed teddy bear, MacFarlane co-wrote and produced the film, which went on to make more than $545 million worldwide. Fresh off the success of “Ted” and hosting “Saturday Night Live,” in 2013, MacFarlane hosted the 85th Academy Awards and was nominated for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song for “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from “Ted.” Due to its great success and cult following, the highly anticipated sequel, “Ted 2,” was released in June 2015. In between both “Ted” films, MacFarlane's western comedy, “A Million Ways To Die In The West,” which he wrote, produced, directed and starred in, alongside an ensemble cast, was released. MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door produced “Books Of Blood” and are in development on a reimagined modern version of the “Revenge Of The Nerds” franchise with the Lucas Bros. 

As an actor, MacFarlane voiced “Mike,” a small mouse with a big Sinatra-esque voice, in the 2016 animated musical family comedy “Sing.” He made an unrecognizable appearance in Steven Soderbergh’s 2017 heist film, “Logan Lucky,” and most recently starred in the Golden Globe-nominated limited series “The Loudest Voice,” about Fox News founder Roger Ailes.

MacFarlane has released seven studio albums: “Music is Better Than Words,” “Holiday for Swing,” “No One Ever Tells You,” “In Full Swing,” “Once In A While,” “Great Songs From Stage & Screen” and his most recent, “Blue Skies.” Critically lauded, these albums garnered MacFarlane several No. 1 debuts on the iTunes Jazz Charts and a total of five Grammy nominations. With a deep appreciation for standards and the Great American Songbook, MacFarlane purchased the entire Sinatra chart library, and also has performed with the legendary composer John Williams at the Hollywood Bowl, duetted with Barbra Streisand and joined numerous celebrated symphonies, including Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago, Baltimore and the National Symphony Orchestra.

Through the Seth MacFarlane Foundation, MacFarlane is an avid supporter of climate conservation, science communication, cancer research, free speech and equal rights for all, and a continuous donor to The Rainforest Trust, The Australia Wildlife Hospital, People for the American Way, Oceana, Chrysalis, Perry’s Place and National Public Radio (NPR).

In honor of his late mother, Perry MacFarlane, he funded The Australia Wildlife Hospital’s Perry MacFarlane Koala Intensive Care Ward, which provides specialized treatment to injured wildlife; and USC Keck School of Medicine’s Perry MacFarlane Memorial Laboratory, pioneering innovative therapies to address compromising side effects due to cancer treatment. In an effort to create a more informed public, he made a $2 million donation to NPR and a $500,000 donation to Los Angeles’ NPR station, KPCC, in 2018. Additionally, he purchased and donated the Carl Sagan papers in 2012, funding the Seth MacFarlane collection of the Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan archive at the Library of Congress, as a tribute to the late astronomer and his important discoveries.
